Dunderdon story

Born in the industrial port town of Goteborg, Dunderdon has become Sweden’s most innovative workwear company. Per-Ivan Hagberg founded Dunderdon in 1997. A carpenter by trade, he wanted to create a timeless pant with superior construction and smart design. Per-Ivan’s solution was the P1 with Poc-system. The P1 represented pure functionality and quality. The pant became ground model for the 3 coming success pants P2, P3 and P4.

With his initial success, Per-Ivan endeavored to create a full collection of clothing for working men. The goal was that each and every product would represent a solution and have a reason for being. This required a broader definition of work. It required addressing the needs of traditional blue-collar professionals, as well as no-collar creatives. It required an updated concept of work wear, where function and form are seamlessly integrated.

Today Dunderdon products are sold globally and include a full range of pants, outerwear, knits, shirts and accessories for men and ladies. The products represent the definiciton of modern work with rationalized concepts of utility, function, fashion and style. Its clothing that inspires and facilitates whatever and however – not bound by trade or environment.

Regardless of the end-user, Per-Ivan’s original product concept holds true – “Honest, simple designs are timeless. Our products should represent the highest craftsmanship and innovation, while never compromising fit and style. Respect the past, but don’t rely on it.”

Generic Surplus

About Generic Surplus

For Spring/Summer 2011, Generic Surplus takes its classic, proven styles from the street to the sea, with a sophisticated and versatile collection that draws from preppy nautical looks, blue collar dock workers’ attire, and sunbleached surfwear. The season’s new materials offer inventive reinterpretations of apparel and bag textiles, including denim chambray and blue-and-white pinstriped canvas, while the white contrast stitching and hardware details are inspired by vintage sails, board shorts and naval accessories. .

New this season:

  • The Slip On is now available in black, white, natural and opal mesh, as well as navy-and-white pinstripe.
  • The unstructured Wharf shoe comes in four chambray-lined canvas variations, plus a ginger suede with brass eyelets.
  • The Borstal is available in 9 colorways -- 4 mesh and 5 canvas-and-suede styles, three of which feature rope-trimmed soles reminiscent of the simplicity of espadrilles.
  • Three styles, the Borstal, the Hunting Hi, and the Mid Deck, have been produced in black/natural military canvas sourced in Switzerland.

Generic Surplus is also proud to present two new shoe collaborations for Spring/Summer 2011. The Wood Wood, designed in partnership with the high-end Danish streetwear brand, is created specifically for the urban cyclist. Available in olive green and black water resistant canvas, the shoe features reinforced rubber patches, a gussetted tongue, reflective tape at the heels, and a non-skid rubber outsole for extra grip. The footbed is printed with custom bike graphics designed by Wood Wood’s Brian Jensen and Karl Oscar Olsen.

Generic Surplus has also partnered with Obey Clothing on a mesh variation of the classic Plimsoul shoe, with heavy duty hunting boot laces and an Obey logo footbed. This is the first shoe from Obey.
